Pasture Raised Ground Pork

Ground pork is popular enough to be in several recipes, or just be adventurous and substitute ground pork for ground beef or ground turkey and expose your palate to a new taste sensation. Each pack is portioned in 1 pound packages. No added spices.

Hogs at White Oak Pastures spend their days rooting in our forests and wallowing in mudholes. Good animal welfare isn't simply keeping them fed watered and within a comfortable temperature range, it's allowing animals to live in an environment where they can express their instinctive behaviors. At White Oak Pastures, we use our animals as tools to shape and improve the land. With their strong shovel-like noses, hogs are excellent at clearing overgrown paddocks. When paired with goats, hogs can take an uninhabitable forest and turn it into a nice shaded pasture. It simply takes patience and time.

The location of White Oak Pastures, in Southwest Georgia, offers many advantages for raising livestock on pasture: climate, soil & culture. Bluffton rarely sees snow and their pastures are green and growing for 52 weeks each year. They get 54 inches of rain per year, and it comes consistently throughout the year, instead of having a monsoon season and a dry season. Along with the optimal environment comes a rural, agriculturally rich heritage. They enjoy a centuries-old culture of natural livestock production here and the soil on the farm is a pebbly loam, as opposed to the deep sand that is prevalent in most of the coastal plain. There really is no better place on earth to raise livestock on pastures.

While they have always considered themselves to be herdsmen and land stewards, over the past 25 years they have focused on humane animal impact and how it benefits the soil. White Oak Pastures is one of a small number of Global Holistic Land Management Hubs. They study, practice, and teach the Savory Institute Land Management Protocol. This organization is recognized globally for its research using animals to restore grasslands. Restoring their grasslands has several benefits, some of which include sequestering carbon, rebuilding healthy soil structure, reversing climate change, and preventing erosion.

This pork is Certified Non-GMO, Rated a Step 4 in the Global Animal Partnership, Certified Humane and EOV (Ecological Outcome Verified) in the Land2Market Program.
