The Fresh Harvest Garden planted roots in the summer of 2015. It was a humble beginning made up of donated land and many helping hands. The garden became a physical representation of what drives Fresh Harvest - community. We wanted a place to get to know our neighbors and customers while growing food sustainably and ethically. So began our effort to cultivate this beautiful property.
Today you’ll find old veggie scraps turned into compost, chickens foraging under fruit trees and mushrooms spread under the tree canopy. We recently cleared 3/4 of an acre and cover cropped the new land with peas, clover and rye to begin building and restoring the soil. In 2017, we grew 7,000 lbs of produce on 1/4 of an acre, while hosting dinners, cooking demonstrations, movie nights, and volunteer events.

Our 2018 plans include building a wash station to clean vegetables and a greenhouse to grow our own seedlings. We’ll plant an orchard of figs, muscadines and persimmons to increase the supply of local fruit grown for our customers. Our focus is also on growing a diversity of lesser known vegetables like yardlong beans, sorrel, hong vit greens, purple daikon radishes, and asian greens.
For us, it's more than delivering fresh, beautiful produce to you each week. We want to foster a community that promotes "doing good” - whether it's supporting small-scale farms that we believe in or inviting you to share a meal with us at the Fresh Harvest Garden. We’re excited to get to know you!
Clarkston is a refugee resettlement town and has been called the most diverse square mile in America. Located and living here, job creation has become a large part of who we are, as refugees make up 45% of the FH team. We also want to ensure the amazing produce that passes through our hands doesn’t bypass our neighbors.
That sense of responsibility has evolved into our weekly Share the Harvest Market in the heart of Clarkston. As a FH customer you enable us to subsidize the same local, organic produce you receive in your baskets to a level that makes it fully accessible to those around us. Finances, transportation, language barriers…these are no longer obstacles to healthy food options.

Another great way to support the STH Market is the “Donate” button. Whenever possible, rather than skipping your basket, simply click the “Donate” button. 100% of your donation goes to the Share the Harvest Market. In 2017 your donations totaled $12,000 which enabled us to run the market for an entire season!
Each week, as a part of the FH community, you help us provide jobs and encouragement for dozens of families. Thank you so much for your support!
